Working with the Grid Display

Since YouCanBook.me functions as a grid, what you select as your grid display is important in determining how your availability displays. It also affects other settings on your booking page, such as Calendar Managed Availability, Breaks, Padding, Appointment Types, Payments.

Setting your Grid Display

Your grid display setting is found under Times & Availability > Duration & Display.

The default grid display on all new booking pages is 1 hour. This means we take the working hours you've set under Times & Availability > Availability and break it into 1 hour increments. You can adjust these increments by adjusting your Grid Display. The smallest increment is 10 minutes, the largest increment is 24 hours.

Grid display & Booking duration

Once you've selected your grid display, you can set the duration of your meeting. It can be any multiple of your grid display. You can set a fixed booking duration for all appointments booked on this booking page, or let your booker select how much time they need with you by setting a minimum, maximum and default booking duration.

Grid display & Calendar Managed Availability

If you're using our Calendar Managed Availability feature, the grid display will determine which start times are possible for your available booking blocks.

  • A grid display of 1 hour and working hours 9am-9pm will only allow Calendar Managed Availability events to start at the top of the hour.
  • A grid display of 15 minutes and working hours of 8am-5pm will allow Calendar Managed Availability events to start at :00, :15, :30, :45 past the hour.
  • A grid display of 45 minutes and working hours of 10am-4pm will restrict Calendar Managed Availability events to start at 10am, 10:45, 11:30, 12:15, 1:00, 1:45, 2:30, 3:15.
If certain Calendar Managed Availability events on your calendar aren't showing for booking, try adjusting your grid display to a smaller increment.

Grid display & Padding

Your grid display affects the length of padding you can set between bookings, as well as the padding that is applied between existing events on your linked calendar. If you want padding shorter than your booking duration, then first adjust your grid display.

Grid display & Breaks

The "break" feature blocks the same time on your schedule every day. Your Grid display is important because it will influence the start times for booking after your break. For example, if you have a 1 hour grid display and a 30 minute break, the break will still take up an entire hour - the block of time cannot be split in half.

So if you need a break shorter than your grid display you'll need to adjust your grid display first. If you have a specific time you want bookings to start after your break, consider using Calendar Managed Availability instead.

Grid Display & Appointment Types

Your grid display is important in determining the length of different appointment types you can offer on a single booking link. If you need multiple length appointments consider adjusting your grid display first.

Grid display & Payments

If you have set up your booking page to accept payments, you'll need to consider your Grid display and booking duration together, as your payments are set per slot.

Consider this when setting the price per slot

If your grid display and booking duration are the same, each booking will equal the price per slot you've set under Booking form > Payments. However if you have a grid display of 15 minutes and a booking duration of 1 hour, your payment per slot will be multiplied by 4 (15 x 4 = 60 minutes).

Alternative to price per slot: If you have set prices and don't want the system to calculate it by slot, use Appointment types, and you can set the price for each appointment directly.
