What updates can I make to notifications?

As you start receiving bookings on your booking pages, there may be updates you want to make to the content or the timing of the notifications that send to your clients.

Follow this guide to understand what changes can be made, and which bookings it will affect.

In this guide:

Updating content of a notification
Adjusting when an existing notification sends
Adding a new notification to a booking page

Updating content of a notification

Example: You want to change the address you've provided for the location of your meetings, from 123 Main Street to 987 Palm Ave.

Who will receive the updated information in your notifications?
  • Anyone who makes a new booking after you've made the change will receive the updated information
  • Any booker who has already booked an appointment, but not yet received the scheduled notification (ie you modified the content of the reminder email before they received it)
Who will not receive the updated information in your notifications?
  • Any booker who has already booked appointment and already received the scheduled notification (ie you modified the content of the confirmation email after they received it)
✏️ Can I modify the information in my notification and the resend the notification to people who have already booked?

No. Resending actions resends the exact same information - it won't pick up the modified version of the notification.

Adjusting when an existing notification sends

Example 1: You want to adjust the reminder to send earlier that originally scheduled, sending now 1 day before the start of the booking instead of 1 hour before the start of the booking.

Who will receive the earlier reminder email?
  • Anyone who makes new a booking after you adjust the sending time of the notification.
Who will not receive the earlier reminder email?
  • Anyone who has already booked an appointment with you.
  • Anyone who makes a new booking within the reminder window (ie, they booked a same-day appointment with you - they won't receive the reminder from the day before)
🕗 How reminders are triggered

When a booking is made, the set days and times of the notifications are recorded with the booking, telling the system to review the event at specific times and to trigger scheduled notifications. Changing the sending time on a notification doesn't change the review time, causing the now earlier reminder to be missed.

if you move the reminder email from 1 hour before to 1 day before, the event will be reviewed at 1 hour before, and see that it has missed the 1 day before reminder, and skip sending it.

Example 2: You move the reminder email to be later than originally scheduled, from 1 day before the start of the booking, to 1 hour before the start of the booking?

Who will receive the later notification?
  • Anyone who makes a new booking after you adjust the sending time of the notification
  • Anyone who has already booked with you, but not yet received the scheduled notification (i.e., the client booked with you next week on Tuesday. If you adjust the reminder today - they will receive the modified notification)
Who will not receive the later notification?
  • Anyone who has already booked with you and already received the reminder email
  • Anyone who books with you within the reminder email (i.e.,  the client booked a 2:00 meeting at 1:30pm on the same day - they won't receive the reminder 1 hour before)

Adding a new notification to a booking page

Example: You already have a reminder scheduled for 1 day before the start of the booking, but to help reduce no-shows, you decide to add an additional same-day reminder.

Who will receive this new notification?
  • Anyone who makes a new booking after you create the new notification
  • Anyone who has already booked with you and is outside the reminder window (i.e., the client made a booking for next Tuesday, and today you added an additional reminder email 1 hour before the meeting starts)
Who will not receive this new notification?
  • Anyone who has already booked with you within the reminder window (i.e., you've created an additional reminder 1 hour before, but the client books with you today 30 minutes before the start of the meeting)
