With Appointment Types, you can offer multiple types of appointments on a single booking page. This is a great solution if you:
- Offer different services during your working hours
- Some services require a longer appointment than others
- Want to charge a fee for some but not all of your services
- Need to see at a glance on your calendar what types of appointments you have booked
This feature is available on Professional and Teams plans.
In this article:
- Selecting a start time of each booking for your appointment types
- Creating multiple appointment types
- Grouping your appointments by type
- Charging a fee for some appointments
- Referring to the appointment booked in your notifications
- Different availability for different appointment types
Selecting a start time of each booking for your appointment types
You'll need to first determine the increments of time your availability will be displayed in. We call this your grid display. This setting will affect the different length appointments you're able to offer on your booking page.
Under Additional options>Availability rules, set the correct start time of each booking.
Sample start time configurations:
- A 15 minute start time of each booking will allow appointments of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 1 hour, 1 hour 15 minutes, etc.
- A 30 minute start time of each booking will allow appointments of 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 hour 30 minutes, etc.
- A 1 hour start time of each booking will allow appointments of 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, etc.
Creating multiple appointment types
Navigate to Additional options>Appointment Types and Toggle this feature On.
Create all the appointment types you offer, setting the duration and, if needed, the price for that service.
Make sure to edit the Intro for the appointment type selection, as this will be the first thing your bookers see when they visit your live booking page.
Grouping your appointments by type
If you offer variations of the same type of appointment, you can group them by type, by checking the option to Divide them into groups. Decide what will define each group in the title - a space, a dash, a colon, or a semicolon.
Then you would title your appointment types GROUP: sub-appointment type, making sure to keep all the same appointment types listed in succession on the page.
- Sales: Discovery Call
- Sales: Full Demo
- Success: Kickoff call
- Success: Onboarding training
Charging a fee for some appointments
If you are charging a fee for your appointments, you can set the price of each appointment as you set it up. If the appointment is a free service, set the fee to 0.
To take payments in the booking process, integrate with Stripe. If your client selects an appointment that has a fee, a credit card modal will be added to the booking form - they will need to complete payment before the time slot is confirmed.
Can I offer some free services?
For any appointments with a price set to 0, the credit card modal will be removed from the booking form, and they can book an appointment without payment.
Referring to the appointment booked in your notifications
You can refer to the type of appointment your client booked in your calendar event and confirmation emails by using the shorthand code {TYPE-NAME}.
Recommendations:
- Add {TYPE-NAME} to your calendar event title so you can see at a glance what kind of appointments you have and plan your day.
- Add {TYPE-NAME} to your confirmation email subject line, so your booker can see what kind of appointment they've booked with you.
