How to integrate Google Analytics with YouCanBookMe
This integration allows you to track a wealth of data about your booking page visitors. You can gain insights into where your visitors are coming from, what devices they're using, and which parts of your booking page they interact with the most. This data can be invaluable in helping you improve your booking page, tailor your marketing strategies, and ultimately, secure more bookings.
Please note, our Google Analytics integration is designed to capture marketing attribution using UTM parameters in the URL. It does not track booking form responses. Follow this guide to set this up on your booking page.
If you are using a Team Management account, the Account Owner will be responsible for integrating Google Analytics on behalf of all team members.
To integrate your booking page with Google Analytics, follow these steps:
- First, you need to have a Google Analytics account. If you don't have one, you can create it on Google Analytics website.
- Once you have an account, you will need to create a new property for your booking page.
- After creating a new property, you will receive a measurement ID.
- Now, go to your YCBM dashboard. Navigate to the"Additional options" section of your booking page.
- Click on the "Booking form" option.
- Select "add question" and select the hidden question option.
- Set the shorthand code to SOURCE and save your changes.
Congratulations, you have successfully integrated your booking page with Google Analytics! Now you can start tracking your booking page's performance and gain insights to improve it.
Other things to consider
When your clients make a booking, the text set in the SOURCE parameter will be automatically inserted in the hidden question on the booking form. This hidden question is not visible in the {FORMFIELDS} that displays all the other information from the booking form. However, you can easily view the source of the booking by adding the shorthand code wherever you want to see it.
There could be a slight delay in getting the data to be visible in your dashboard (up to 24 hours). You will be able to see it by adjusting the metrics you are checking:
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. Is it possible to pass UTM parameters?
- UTM parameters enable the retrieval of significant data from the URL string of your booking page. Usually, it will have a structure similar to this: https://yourbookingpage.youcanbook.me?utm_content=post&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkedin&utm_campaign=summerSale
- You have the flexibility to include any desired information following the standard parameters. It is important to avoid using spaces, but if necessary, you can insert a plus sign (+) between words to indicate a space. For example, if you want to add the information "new product launch" to the utm_campaign parameter, you would use the following format: &utm_campaign=new+product+launch.
The inclusion of UTM parameters in the URL is necessary for capturing the relevant information when the booker navigates to your booking page.
Parameter | Purpose | Example |
---|---|---|
utm_source | This will identify where the traffic is coming from. | utm_source=facebook |
utm_medium | This will tell GA where the link was used. | utm_medium=email |
utm_campaign | If you are running a specific campaign or promotion you can include a reference | utm_campaign=summerSale |
utm_term | If you have a specific term you are targeting you can add that into the ads link. | utm_term=tax+services |
utm_content | If you would like to track the specific element that was clicked on. | utm_content=headshot or utm_content=integrations+page |
